The following three topic areas will be debated:

• Sports
• Politics
• Science & Technology

Topics will be age appropriate for Years 7-10.

Each debate will have 30 minutes of preparation time. Each speaker will have 6 minutes with first bell at 4 minutes.

Our adjudicators will be from SWORDS Debating Society as well as the School of Law at UOW. Adjudicators will follow the guidelines from the Australasian Intervarsity Debating Competition. The UOW Debating Challenge Handbook will be emailed to you upon registration which includes information about these guidelines.

The judging primary focus will be on matter, however manner and method may still have some bearing on the result of the debate.

Check in and welcome will be located in Building 20, UOW Wollongong Campus, Northfields Ave, Wollongong. This is a change from previous years. Various rooms in this area will be used for the team debates.

Parking during the week is ticketless parking or pay and display. The closest carpark to Building 20 is P3 or P4. Check out 'Casual Parking' webpage information prior to your visit.
