SWORDS Debating Society invites students in Years 7-10 to take part in the 2026 debating challenge!
Students will take part in a day of debating with other schools from the Illawarra and surrounding regions. Debates will be adjudicated by some of SWORDS best adjudicators.
This day is to encourage high school students to continue debating and provide an opportunity for schools to further develop their students' skills. Each debate will allow for preparation time and debrief. Join us for a fun day of debating in a practice competition environment.
Details
Suitable for students in Years 7-10.
You may enter a maxiumum of TWO teams (four students per team) per school. You can bring reserves for teams if needed. If you want to request more than two teams please email future-events@uow.edu.au.
Date: Friday 27 November 2026 (Term 4, Week 7)
Time: 8.45am - 3.00pm
Location: University of Wollongong, Wollongong campus
Cost: $10 (inc. GST), per student. We will send you an invoice for the amount of students you are bringing after the event to ensure any last minute changes are accounted for.
RSVP: Monday 26 October 2026 (Term 4, Week 3)
What's included? Certificate of participation for each student.

9.00-9.15am - Welcome and brief of the day
9.15-10.50am - Round 1
10.50-11.10am - Morning tea
11.10-12.45pm - Round 2
12.45-1.15pm - Lunch
1.15-2.50pm - Round 3
2.50-3pm - Awards and farewell
